Alpine Peaks makes concentrated, long-duration investment in high quality small and mid-cap companies that can compound capital across business cycles. The firm has two strategies: Alpine Peaks Opportunity Fund, an equity long/short strategy, and the Alpine Peaks Long Horizon Fund, a long only strategy.

Alpine Peaks Opportunity Strategy

The Alpine Peaks Opportunity Fund has a concentrated long/short equity strategy focused on finding value moments in high quality small and mid-cap companies that can compound capital across business cycles. Investments are selected through a rigorous, highly independent research process, without using street research. All long holdings must meet our quality criteria of durable growth, attractive margins, high returns on invested capital, limited debt, and robust free cash flow generation.  This results in a differentiated portfolio of exceptional companies that we expect to be resilient across market and economic cycles.

Short holdings typically have the opposite financial profile and are typically levered, low return, low margin, cyclical businesses that we believe have set unrealistic performance targets.  We have extensive experience shorting and use all single name alpha shorts, not index shorts. We are patient investors with a five year average long holding period thus far. Our long duration outlook enables us to take advantage of shorter term volatility.  The Opportunity Fund was launched January 1, 2018.

Alpine Peaks Long Horizon Strategy

Similarly to the Opportunity Fund, the Long Horizon Fund makes concentrated investments in high quality small and mid-cap companies that we believe will compound capital across business cycles.  Investments are selected through a rigorous, highly independent research process, without using of street research. This results in a differentiated portfolio of exceptional companies that we expect to be resilient across market and economic cycles.

The Fund’s average holding period is expected to be 4-5 years, with our long duration view enabling us to take advantage of shorter term volatility.  The majority of our new investments have market caps between $2 to $10 billion and the fund typically holds 15-25 positions.   The Long Horizon Fund was launched July 1, 2021.
